FLORA'S OPERATION.

Posted by Elizabeth Lamb on Thursday, November 14, 2013, In : Guide dog, puppy walking
Flora has been to stay at the vetinary clinic for the day and been spayed. This is just to make sure she will not be having pups in the future. I expected a peaceful evening when I picked her up, thinking she may be a little under the weather after having an anaesthetic with her op. but Noooooo. she dragged the poor nurse across the clinic to greet me, trying to jump and play with an unsuspecting dog waiting to see the vet.  hahaha oh dear.

Flora and Rosie

Posted by Elizabeth Lamb on Friday, March 8, 2013, In : Guide dog, puppy walking
Flora has been out and about now with her new jacket on, People tend to notice it more than the flash on her lead, so are more aware and tend not to rush up to pet her. She looks very posh and struts down the road.
This week Flora  went on the bus for the first time. I did expect her to be a bit concerned about all the rattling but she took no notice and took it all in her stride, even when we got off and the air brakes went. We had a lovely run when we got off, met lots of other dogs, and go...

More Walking and Free Runs

Posted by Elizabeth Lamb on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, In : Guide dog, puppy walking
Flora is now 4months old and growing rapidly, when she is laying down, she looks all legs, like a young foal, Lol..  She has been going for 'free runs' now and absolutely loves the beach, which at the moment is the only place I am able to take her, as everywhere else is so muddy and slippery. She races around like a clown, all legs and gangly. She meets lots of dogs, and needless to say, it is the males who love her. She is a right little flirt.
Her recall from them, when we are walking away,...

Growing

Posted by Elizabeth Lamb on Thursday, January 24, 2013, In : Guide dog, puppy walking
I am sure we are visited by the 'growth fairy' each night, as she seems to grow overnight. Flora has reached that gangly stage, where she looks like she is never fed, I am increasing her food, it seems, every other day, although I have to be careful not to 'up' her food too much as it will upset her tummy,
She is now going out on the lead, and at the moment I am losing in the battle to keep her attention, as she is interested in everything, and doesn't seem to be worried by the big bus trundl...

New Puppy Flora

Posted by Elizabeth Lamb on Thursday, January 17, 2013, In : Guide dog, puppy walking
Flora our new guide dog pup is a Golden Retriever, and a most beautiful shade of blondie red. We knew we had her the moment she was left by our PWS (puppr walking supervisor).
Zola took the brunt of her playfullness during the day, but at night she was a little monkey, we understood that she had left her litter and things were all different, but my word, I have never heard such noise coming from such a little thing. Even though Zola and Rosie (cocker spaniel) were in the kitchen alongside her...

New Puppy.

Posted by Elizabeth Lamb on Thursday, January 17, 2013, In : Guide dog, puppy walking
Just before Christmas 2012, our lovely Black Lab Zola, at 14 months left us to go on to her further training. She was then chosen to go on an exchange to the Netherlands. The news so far, is that she has settled in and is doing really well.

We all miss her desperately, but 10 days before she left we took ...
